HISTORY OF TALENT HUNT

The Talent hunt competition was created By FADAN to encourage the up coming designers in the Tertiary institutions and Secondary Schools.

The Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN) in collaboration with the Yaba College of Technology co- sponsors the programme.

The first Talent Hunt competition took place in November 1999 at yussuf Grillo Auditorium of the Yaba College of Technology, during the 10th Anniversary of the fashion Designers Association of Nigeria.

  FADAN under the leadership of Mrs. Folorunso Alakija provided locally made prints to the participants for the competition in 1999.

Tertiary Institutions, private fashion institutions and secondary schools took part in the competition. A sewing machine and other consolation prizes were awarded to the winners

The second Talent Hunt Competition took place in November 2000.

Fashion schools and secondary schools within Nigeria participated.

Textile industries donated materials for the competition and certificates of participation were awarded to participants.

On the 6th of December 2001, at Yaba College of Technology the third edition of the Talent Hunt took place, under the leadership of Mrs. PatAgbakwu-Ajewu.

Fashion institution and secondary schools from Abeokuta, Benin, Kaduna, Lagos and Nsuka were invited to participate.

Prizes for the winners this time took a new dimension.  And Gift items and Certificates of participation were awarded to the winners, while nine trophies for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, winners of the three categories.
